Michael "Mike" Holley

Michael T. Holley, 87, passed away July 2, 2026. Born on January 31, 1939 in Batesburg, SC, a son of the late Omie Lavoye “O.L.” and Verlene Taylor Holley. Michael graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High school, then went on to serve in the South Carolina National Guard.

He was co-owner and vice president of O.L. Holley and Sons, where he worked alongside his father and brothers for 45 years. Michael served on the Batesburg-Leesville High School Vocational Advisory Board. A deep man of faith, Michael was an active member of First Calvary Baptist Church. He had many interests and was a skilled woodcarver, he also enjoyed tending to his koi pond, which he designed and built.

Mr. Holley was devoted to his family. He is survived by his daughters; Rita Orear (Clay), Tonia Branham (David), and Sara Holley (Jason), grandchildren; Christian Griffin (Kelly), Lauren Taylor (Mark), Kevin Branham, Tiffany Branham (Chris), Katelin Dotson (Zack), Chandler Cooper, 8 great-grandchildren, and his brother; Eddie Holley (Sara). He was predeceased by his wife, Darlene Holley and brothers; Wayne A. Holley and James V. Holley.

A special thank you goes out to Agape Hospice and Katherine Sheppard of Sheppard’s Helping Hands for their care of Mr. Holley. Michael’s kindness, humor, and warmth will be missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, a testament to a life of love faith and kindness.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Ridge Crest Memorial Park, with Rev. Mendle Baker officiating. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Holley family with arrangements.
