Maytrude “Trudie” Fulmer-Katz, 88, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021. Maytrude was born in Leesville on June 21, 1932 to the late Grace and William Fulmer. When living in Leesville she was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and graduated from Hollywood High School where she received her nickname Trudie. Maytrude went on to Newberry College where she studied Secretarial Sciences and graduated in 1951. During her college years she was active in the Beta Club, Newberry Singers, Music Club, and Lutheran Student Association. Maytrude loved playing the piano, singing, golf, working on puzzles and cats. She worked for Prudential Insurance in Greenville, SC where she met and married Lawrence H. Katz, of Philadelphia, PA. After getting married, Maytrude worked as a secretary. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was what she cherished most. Once Maytrude and Larry retired they lived in Florida and South Carolina.
Surviving include her son, Stephen Katz, of Arden, NC; daughter, Pamela Katz-Kuster (Philip Edwards), of Leesville, SC; beloved grandson, Ethan Kuster (Melissa), of Lexington; sister, Vernetha Renwick, of Newberry, SC; brother in law, Alvin Katz, of Philadelphia, PA; great granddaughter, Savannah Kuster; many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence H. Katz; brother and sister in law, Gerald and Gladys Fulmer; and brother in law, Robert Renwick.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Lakeside Place and Agape Hospice of Lexington for taking wonderful care of Maytrude.
A private service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice of Lexington 128 Library Hill Lane Lexington, SC 29072. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
