Maxie "Pee Wee" Steen, Jr.

Mr. Maxie “Pee Wee” Steen, Jr., 77, of Leesville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 10, 1948 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Maxie Steen, Sr. and Lottie Winburn Steen. Pee Wee worked in the construction industry where he was a lumber grader with Hutto Lumber for over 40 years. He was also a member of Old Lexington Baptist Church. Pee Wee was an avid hard worker, and he loved to hunt and crappie fish.

Surviving are his wife, Vickie Myers Steen; son, Teddy Steen (Candi); brothers, Donald Steen (Diane) and Murdick Steen; sisters, Gladys Garrick (Tommy) and Brenda Redfearn; grandchildren, Justin Steen (Brianna), Carlee Padgett (Dustin), Lakin Quarles (JT), and Breanna Stone; and 8 great-grandchildren. Pee Wee was predeceased by his first wife, Cherry Black Steen; brother, James Steen; and sisters, Holly Rucker and Janice Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at Old Lexington Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ken Harmon and Rev. Roger Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Lexington Baptist Church, 800 Old Lexington Road, Leesville SC 29070. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Steen family with arrangements.
