Mary Stewart Dennis

Mrs. Mary Stewart Dennis, 71, was born on August 27, 1954 in Leesville, South Carolina to the late Julius Ray and Ida Long Stewart. On Thursday, December 18, 2025 she transitioned from this life to eternal rest at Lexington Medical Center.

At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 243 and as a mother at Greater Vision Recover All Center of Batesburg.

She received her education at Twin-City High School in Batesburg. Mary worked at the Root Cellar and Hardee’s in Batesburg. She also retired from White Knoll High School.

Mary was united into holy matrimony to the late Sam Dennis. And to this union two children were born; Julia and Brian Stewart.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the life of her children, Julia Stewart and Brian Stewart; her siblings, Charles Stewart (Elizabeth), Rosa Stewart, Sylvia Stewart, Jacqueline Stewart, Katherine Loyd (Daryl), and Sabrina Price (Jennings); uncle, Reverend Ricky Long (Minnie);   grandchildren, Byron, Nadarius, Shamana, Tyson, Brayden, Joli, Nikaesha, and Kianna; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents, Julius Ray and Ida Long Stewart; husband, Sam Dennis; brother, Alphonso Hall; three great-grandchildren, Tiana Stewart, Aiden Stewart, and Julius Wise.

Homegoing services will be conducted 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend. Dr. Amos O. Harling, Jr. and Reverend Ricky Long officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Byron Stewart, Nadarius Stewart, Laquantis Stewart, Jicosha Stewart, Wyman Gillian, and Julius Stewart.
