Libby Hammond, 82, of Cayce passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 7th at 10:30 am at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Rd. West Columbia, officiated by her nephew, Jerry Fields, of Florence. Visitation will follow at The Women"s Club of Cayce, 701 Oakland Ave. Cayce. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.

She was born in the home of her maternal grandparents and raised in Florence County to Haynie Fields, Sr. and Eulea Turner Fields. Graduating from McClenagan High School she married and worked at McLeod Infirmary Hospital in Florence for a number of years before moving to West Columbia in 1965. After moving to West Columbia, she was employed with the SC Department of Social Services and then moved on into real estate and retired from McGee Real Estate in West Columbia after 40 plus years having served as bookkeeper, real estate agent and had obtained her brokers license.

She loved to read, especially her bible, working in her yard planting her flowers, spending time on the lake, at the beach and most of all with her family and friends. As a young girl she took voice lessons and piano and loved to sing and listen to music She learned from her grandmother how to read, write and do arithmetic in the dirt and skipped her second year of grade school. She spent much time with her grandparents and learned what hard work was as she worked on their farm. Her love for her family was unconditional and always tried to see the best in everyone. Through her illness, her faith was unshaken. She will be missed by many!

She was predeceased by her parents;  son, Eddie Galloway; grandson, Joey Galloway; brother, Haynie Fields, Jr.; sister, Barbara Thompson; son-in-law, Richard King; and father of her children, Marion Galloway.

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda King, of Leesville, Tammy (John) Seibert, of Lexington, and Robin (Steve) Harris, of Chapin; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law, Mary Fields Plass.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lexington Medical Center Extended Care and Compassionate Care Hospice for her care in the past weeks. Donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice or the charity of ones choice.
