Funeral services for Marvin E. Epting, 97, will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2025 at Wittenberg Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Getz officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00p.m. in the church social hall. Serving as active pallbearers will be Ross Shealy, Brandt Shealy, Jeremy Patterson, Matt Patterson, Des Brown, Tory Mitchell, William Barnes, and Danny Addy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Batesburg-Leesville Masonic Lodge #138.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wittenberg Lutheran Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 3447 Leesville, SC 29070. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Marvin passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. He was born on May 2, 1928 in Leesville, South Carolina to the late Thompson Earl and Carrie Rose Shealy Epting. He was a lifetime member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church where he was member of the Wittenberg Lutheran Men. Marvin was a 50 plus year member of the Batesburg-Leesville Masonic Lodge #138, VFW Post 6740, American Legion Post 0061, Scottish Rites, York Rites, and the Jamil Temple. Marvin also retired as a lab technician with Savannah River Site, and he was a United States World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Epting (Wendy) and Tommy Epting; daughters, Debbie Patterson, Terri Rish (Allen) and Robin Epting; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granchild.
Marvin is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Myrell Epting; brothers, Vivian Epting, Leon Epting, James Epting, and Everette Epting; sister, Nelle Rinehart; and a grandson, Flynn Patterson.
