Marty Bernard Hartley Obituary

Marty Bernard Hartley was born on February 20, 1965, with a personality that was already larger than life. He never met a stranger, was always ready to crack a joke, and somehow managed to turn everything he touched into gold.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Crisette Jane Hartley, whom he fell in love with before either of them could even speak the other's language; his daughter, Kristen Michelle Hartley, who inherited his strong will, creativity, and love of animals; his son, Austin Alexander Hartley, to whom he gave his deep determination, humor, and flair for fashion; and his four-legged shadow, Natalie. He is also survived by his siblings: Teresa Shealy (Terry), Beth Matthews (Keith), and Patrick Hartley (Amanda).

He was predeceased by his parents, Lindsey and Melba Hartley.

After his retirement, his hobby of collecting hobbies amalgamated into a successful antique booth he ran with his partner in crime. He thrifted, painted, and transformed the mundane into one-of-a-kind marvels. He never let his Parkinson's disease stop him from doing what he loved or from extending a helping hand to those who needed it.

Marty made a lasting impression on everyone he ever met, but none more so than those lucky enough to call him family. He passed away on April 30, 2025, at the age of 60, and the world is all the dimmer for it.

Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
