Martha W. Borg

Martha W. Borg, age 82, of Chapin, SC went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 15, 2025. Martha was born June 4, 1943, in Cayce, South Carolina to the late Lillian Marguerette Williams and Robert Tillman Williams.

Martha lived her life to the fullest, enjoying her family most of all. She worked for the University of South Carolina and the Department of Natural Resources and retired as the Director of Procurement at the Department of Health and Human Services. She made many dear friends through the years and will be remembered as a spirited, giving, woman who loved God, the Carolina Gamecocks, holiday decorations, jewelry, plants and politics. What Martha will be remembered for most is the way she loved her family. She was “Gramby” to her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved her family deeply and was committed to ensuring that everyone had a wonderful life. She took comfort in the Lord and his plan for everything.

She is survived by her children, Beth Sawvell (John), Sidney A. Hursey, III. (Mary Moore), W. Jeffrey Hursey (Tena), Steven Hursey, (Brenda) and Melanie Payne (Vince); her grandchildren, Rebecca Swygert (JT), Sarah Anderson, Stephen Anderson, D. Adam Hursey (Attley), Skylar Boor (Codie), Heather Greenwell (Travis), Zackary Peerce, Joshua Bowling, Miranda Saltsgaver (Shane), Lindsey Hursey, Meagan Hursey, Stephanie Hursey, Guy Payne, Grant Payne and Leah Payne; her great grandchildren, Kody, Eddie, Ethan, Vaughn, Vivian, Reid, Savannah, Harper, Braxton, Travis Jr., Maddie Jo, Linkyn, Oliver, Ariana, Sydni Rae, Nathan, Bradly, Ayrton; her brother-in-law, Odell Branham; nieces, Missy Howard and Deanne Meraz Lopez (Rigo); and nephew, Brett Branham (Lesley).

She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Ted Borg; her sister, Carol Branham; daughter-in-law, Debi Hursey; her great grandson, Andrew Jacob; great granddaughter, Lillian Cora and niece, Lauren Bennett.

The Memorial Service will be Sunday, August 24 at 3 pm at Dutch Fork Church on Dreher Shoals Road in Irmo, SC. A visitation with family will be at 2 pm prior to the service. Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
