Marian D Shapiro

Lexington-Marian Diehl Shapiro, 68, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017.  In addition to Jim, her husband of 34 years, she was surrounded by some of the best people in the world - her friends.  By the grace of God, she passed quickly, painlessly and peacefully.

She was literally a coal miner’s daughter from West, by God, Virginia, but lived mostly in the Newport News and Virginia Beach areas of Virginia before moving to South Carolina in 1987.  A banker for more than 40 years before her retirement, she worked primarily as a commercial lender before advancing to senior management.  But, regardless of her title, she was always down to earth, cherishing being able to help people meet their needs and achieve their dreams.  She was a listener, mentor and friend first and foremost to those who knew her either personally and professionally.  Even on her worst and waning days, she still put the needs and interests of others before hers.

She leaves behind her husband and beloved cat, Piper, as well as friends and family, both near and far.  While she may be gone from this Earth, she is still present in those she touched and would want her mark to be forever indelible and impact you in positive ways as you live your life.

A service will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, Saturday, August 5 at 1:00pm, followed by a visitation.  Dress is business casual.
