Margie E. Hook

 Funeral service for Margie E. Hook, 96, will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gina D. Metze officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church 3011 Leaphart Road West Columbia, SC 29169 or Alzheimer’s Association P O Box 96011; Washington, DC 20090-6011, memo line: restrict to South Carolina Chapter. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.

 Mrs. Hook passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Fanny Addy Eargle. Mr. and Mrs. Hook owned and operated Hook Flowers in West Columbia. She was known as the “Pansy Lady” and she would give a pretty flower to each child that came to the flower shop. Mrs. Hook was a very active member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for numerous years. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Myra Kinard (Carl); sons, Norman Bethea Hook (Virginia) and Richard Jefferson Hook (Kristin); grandchildren, Tradd Bethea Hook and Ashley Hook Chandler (Stephen); great-grandchildren, Connor Eric Chandler and Miles Bethea Chandler; brother, Francis Eargle (Joanne); and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was predeceased by her husband, Bethea Richard Hook; grandchild, Richard Tyler Hook; 2 sisters and 6 brothers.

 The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Hank Alford, his office staff, Patricia and Doris, RN, and mom’s caregivers, Cheyenne Whitesides, Amy Davis, Missy Jenkins, and Jessica Sanchez for their loving care of Ms. Hook.
