Mabel Jennings Obituary

Irmo-Mabel Bouknight Jennings, 87, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021 with her family by her side.  She was the daughter of the late William and Jessie Bouknight.

Mabel married Homer M. Jennings in 1952 and they were married for 67 years.  She played basketball and was also a 1952 graduate of Irmo High School.  Mabel retired from Woolco Department Store in 1983.  She loved her family with all of her heart and enjoyed her grand and great-grandchildren.  Mabel will be missed by all.  She proudly served her church, Capers Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Wanda Costellia, Dan (Carla) Jennings, Angela (Mike) Price, and Jennifer (Gene) Weed; sister, Nell (Bennie) Poole; daughter-in-law, Edith Jennings; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Mabel is predeceased by her loving husband, Homer M. Jennings; son, Audie Jennings; brother, Monroe Bouknight; and sister, Helen Craft.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, SC 29072.  The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Capers Chapel United Methodist Church, 463 Capers Chapel Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075 with Pastor Daniel Eplee and Pastor Jesse Rogers officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital at stjude.org or to Caper’s Chapel UMC, 12550 Broad River Rd, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
