Gilbert—Mr. Luther Vern Price passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1950 at Mills Clinic in Prosperity, South Carolina to the late Luther Paul and Virgierea Asbill Price. Mr. Vern worked for South Carolina Department of Transportation, where he would later retire. He was an avid outdoorsman, where he loved hunting and fishing. Vern was a member of various hunting clubs. He loved spending his time in the outdoors with his permanent hunting and fishing buddy, BJ Price along with many others. Vern also served in the South Carolina National Guard.

Surviving are his wife of many years, Nancy Gunter Price; son, Mike Price; daughters, Gena Barton (Scott) and Jenifer Covington-Gilliland; brother, Calvin Price (Reba); sisters, Vickie Price, and Shirley Price (Fel McCarty); grandchildren, Erin Chapman, Gracie Swann, Ryan Barton, Cameron Barton, Rylee Barton, Gracie Barton, Alex Price, and Vika Price; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and his heroic dog, Grady.

He is predeceased by brothers, Virgil P. Price, Larry L. Price, and William J. Price.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel with burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, West Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
