Lloyd Duane Raynes, 73, formerly of Akron, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his home in Lexington, South Carolina.
Born March 1, 1953 in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence and Arlene Taylor Raynes. He graduated from Leetonia High School in 1971.
Lloyd was retired from the SC Department of Corrections, where he ran the prison farm. He also worked in Auto Sales and at Montgomery Ward over the years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington.
He loved spending time with his family and being a Granddad. He also enjoyed cruising and travel and was a roller coaster enthusiast.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Kathleen C Smith; his daughters, Jennifer James (Lee) and Robyn Letts (Ronnie); a granddaughter, Gemma James; siblings, Lester Raynes, Linda Dykens (Tom), Lois Lewis (Jim), David Raynes (Bonnie), Mitchell Raynes (Donna), Susan Jones (Rob); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Raynes.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Lexington (415 Barr Rd, Lexington, SC) on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 am. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
