Lewis Franklin Wahl went to be with his heavenly father on April 18, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Born January 30, 1939 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Walter and Josephine Wahl. Lewis married the late Ellen Shirley Sanders on April 20, 1956 and they raised their five children in West Columbia, SC. He spent two years in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Jackson, SC, where he met the love of his life. Lewis loved the Lord, going to the beach, shopping, playing cards and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his five children, Franklin Wahl (Stela), Terry Wahl (Jessica), Doloris (Dee Dee) Wahl, Darleen Griggs (Jerry), Velvet Merritt (Mike); his grandchildren, Tiera, Cheryl, Cristy, Ricki Jean, Jennifer, Kacee, Mackenzie, Mackayla, Joshua and Jacob; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request memorials be made to Project 10:13 at Mission Lake. A family memorial will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Mission Lake 525 State Pond Rd. Gaston, SC 29053.
