Mr. Lester Warren, Jr. 83, of Batesburg passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026. He was born on August 13. 1942 in Batesburg, South Carolina to the late Lester Warren, Sr. and Evetta McCormick Warren. Lester was a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School, Class of 1960 and attended Clemson University. He worked for many years at Burlington and Wellington Industries as a loom fixer and lastly retiring with UPS where he loaded and unloaded cargo on airplanes. Lester was fascinated with cars; He loved to repair cars and to drag race in his early years. Lester loved going to NASCAR races and watch them on T.V. in his leisure time. Lester was a die heart Clemson fan, always pulling for his Clemson Tigers. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially going fishing. Lester was a C.B. Radio enthusiasts, along with some of his C.B. friends, Ken Durst and Carl Jr. Lake. In his early years, he was a former volunteer firefighter with Leesville Fire Department. Lester attended Crossroads Baptist Church in Gilbert and also retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard as a Sargent.
Surviving are his daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Gantt (Glenn); brother, Donald Warren (Debbie); grandchildren, Emily Gantt and Conner Gantt; and beloved dog, Rex. Lester was predeceased by a son, John David Warren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel with the Rev. Jud Hook officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, 525 Main Street, Gilbert SC 29054.
