God called Leon Franklin Elkins home on May 21, 2025, at the age of 72. He fought the good fight and then told me he loved me, but he was tired and ready go.
Known by all as either Frank or Bo, he was born on June 28, 1952, in Columbia, SC where he attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army until he departed in 1978. He spent the remaining part of his life in Lexington, SC. Because of his time in service, he was able to further his education at Columbia College where he obtained a BA in Accounting and worked with several different financial institutions until his retirement.
In his personal life, Frank was a devoted husband to his wife and love of his life, Wanda Elkins, who survives him. He is also survived by his siblings, Connie Staub (Edward), Lynn Jeffcoat (Donnie); and children, Gina McCall (Patrick), Melissa Elkins, Tina Bernier (Brandie), and Tim Bouknight; and many grand and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Sr. and Eloise Morris as well as a daughter, Stephanie Jeffers.
Frank loved his Carolina Gamecocks, porch sitting while listing to talk radio 100.7 the Point, and NASCAR racing, not necessarily in that order. And he loved to dance but you best bet if you got caught on the dance floor with him you were going to get twirled. And who could forget the full moon he was never afraid to share. Frank’s love and laughter touched many lives, and his memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Per Frank’s request we will be celebrating his birthday, June 28, 2025, at Wings N Ale, Outlet Point from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, please come and share your favorite memory and have a Natty on him one last time.
Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family. Please join in honoring Frank’s life by sharing your beloved memories and any photos you may have on his memorial page.
