Leo Kenneth Oxner Sr. 74, of Leesville, SC passed away at 5:11 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center. He was born on August 27, 1951, and raised in Leesville, South Carolina, a place that he has always called home.
Leo was a hardworking man who spent much of his life as a local truck driver for Southeastern Freight Lines, later finishing his career at C&W Septic. He believed in an honest day’s work and took pride in providing for his family. He had a natural gift for carpentry and woodworking, and if he wasn’t working, he was building, fixing, or measuring something. It was common to see him with a tape measure hooked to his overalls, a pencil tucked into the bib pocket, and a hammer never far from reach—tools that felt like an extension of who he was. Leo enjoyed making homemade muscadine wine, a quiet tradition that reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and love for simple pleasures.
Leo was known by some as a bit ornery and set in his ways, but those closest to him knew he was the backbone of his family. He showed his love by providing, protecting, and standing firm for those he loved. There is nothing he loved more than throwing a pig on the BBQ pit or some chickens and getting everyone together, NASCAR, and cheering on Clemson football. Being surrounded by family made him happiest, especially when laughter filled the yard and food was on the BBQ pit out back that he made himself!
His love of carpentry was passed down to his children and grandchildren, along with his strong belief in standing up for what you believe in and always placing family first. These values became part of who they are, a living reminder of the man he was.
Leo will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply in his own way, and built more than projects—he built a family grounded in strength, loyalty, and love. His legacy lives on through the generations who carry his lessons forward.
Leo leaves behind his children: Chris (Bobby) Oxner of Columbia, SC; Cindi Floyd; Leo (Nicole) Oxner of Leesville, SC; and Kandi Oxner-Ricciardi of Leesville, SC. He was a proud grandfather to Rocky (Skeeter) Floyd Jr, Cody (Bubba) Floyd, and Dustin (Otis) Floyd; Chelsea (Nick) Duffey and Gracie Louk; Caden Ricciardi, Ashton Ricciardi, Kileigh Ricciardi, and Maddie Ricciardi of Leesville, SC. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lee “Drake”, Kenneth “Blake” & Carlee Ann; Avery & Aiden; Emma, Aubrey & London; Elaina, Drew, Kayden & Kasey; Gage & Addison; and his siblings: Nathan (Tiny) Oxner of Lexington, SC; F.A. Oxner; and Janice (Tommie) Price. Leo is predeceased by his parents, D.C and Dorothy Oxner, and his brothers, Marvin Oxner and Eugene Oxner.
