Laurie Ella Lemus

Laurie Ella Lemus, born on April 21, 1970, in Newberry, South Carolina, passed away on October 8, 2025, in her residence in Pelion, South Carolina. Known for her warm heart and love for her family, she left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Laurie was a steadfast gardener, whose presence was as soothing as the beautiful flowers she nurtured. Her grandkids were her pride and joy, and she spent countless hours creating unforgettable memories with them. Laurie also had a special bond with her beloved dog, Sadie, who brought her immense joy and companionship.

Laurie is fondly remembered by her loving husband, Fernando Lemus; her devoted sons, Alex Lemus and Daniel Lemus; her brothers and sisters, Keith Smith, Kent Smith, Marty Hawes, Jamie Smith and Teresa Coleman; and her grandchildren, Delta Lemus, Tyler Lemus, Clementine Lemus and Finley Kanipe. She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Clara Smith. Laurie's family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her greatly, but will continue to feel her influence in their lives through the cherished memories they shared together. 

Memorial service will be held at 12pm (Noon) on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at West Creek Baptist Church 400 Church Rd., Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Services are under the direction of Barr-Price Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Lexington.
