Larry O'Dell Shealy Sr.

Services for Larry O’Dell Shealy, Sr., 85, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel with the Rev. George Koon officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Boy’s Farm, 6655 SC 34, Newberry SC 29108.

Mr. Shealy passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Ernest Rembert and Louise Perry Shealy.  He was a member of Old Lexington Baptist Church where he held numerous positions, served in the S.C. National Guard for 8 years, and retired as a Lead Supervisor at Springs Industries (Olympia Plant).  He was the Delmar Community Club Site Manager for Meals on Wheels through the Council on Aging, a member of Woodman of the World #273 since 1963, and served on the Member Nominating and Qualifications Committee with MCEC for 25 years. Mr. Shealy loved classic cars and especially his 1955 Pontiac Star Chief two door hardtop. He and his wife planted a large garden with blueberries, grapes, and pears, which they gladly shared with friends and neighbors.  

Surviving are his children, Larry O’Dell “Dale” Shealy (Karen), Sharon Meetze (Charles, Sr.), Robert L. Shealy, and Melanie Collins; sisters, Mary Atkins, Brenda Steele, and Catherine Bedenbaugh;  grandchildren,   John Collins, Jr., Michael Meetze (Brittany), Jim Collins, Joshua Shealy (Heather), Katie Shealy, Gage Shealy, Jasmine Meetze; great-grandchildren, Hunter Meetze, Liam Long, Christian Meetze, Cameron Meetze, Cooper Gilpatrick, Noel Hydrick, Zoey Meetze, Bryson Suttcliff, Jasper Shealy, and Knoxlee Shealy. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Zelda S. Shealy, grandson, Thomas Meetze and Brandon Meetze, son-in-law, John Collins, and brother, Rembert B. Shealy, Jr. The family would like to give a special thank you to Three Oaks Hospice and most especially to Crystal Rushton for their loving care.
