Larry Dean Sheppard, age 77, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 23, 2022. He was born on April 5, 1945, in Bennettsville, SC, to the late Cora Lee and Danny Sheppard.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Linda Fulmer Sheppard; daughter, Stacy Sheppard Eddings (TJ); grandchildren, Justin Corley and Jacob Corley; great-grandson, Talon Corley Pye; brother, Chris Sheppard; sister, Valory Ransom. He is predeceased by his parents and his daughters, Dana Sheppard Corley and Linda Dean Sheppard Smoak.
Larry was a graduate of Bennettsville High School and a devout Christian.
He began his employment at South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCE&G) from 1968-1973. After SCE&G, he worked at South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) where he retired in 1986. While working with SLED, he got his license to be a general contractor to build commercial and residential swimming pools. Larry immediately began installing swimming pools, and opened Lexington Funtime Pools. Larry was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Cutting Horse Association, and Harley Owners Group (HOG). He was a member of the National Rifle Association of America, Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina, and Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He also was very proud to have received his auctioneer’s license and enjoyed being an auctioneer in his spare time. In his final years, he and his wife retired in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he enjoyed spending his time on his front porch looking at the ocean and visiting with friends.
The visitation celebrating Larry’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Rd, Lexington, SC 29072. The pallbearers will be Talon Corley Pye, Jacob Corley, Justin Corley, Wynn Corley, TJ Eddings, Tommy Byrd, and Jim Brigman.
Immediately following the service, he will be laid to rest at Woodridge Memorial Park.
