Larry Dean Bodenhamer Obituary

Larry Dean Bodenhamer, 91, passed away on March 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and quiet strength that shaped every chapter of his long life. He was a man defined by service-service to his country, to his family, to his faith, and to the land he loved.

Larry proudly served in the United States Army, spending two years in the Korean War, where he demonstrated courage, discipline and unwavering commitment. After returning home, he continued building his future by attending Palmer College in Columbia, South Carolina, preparing himself for the next chapter of his life.

It was after college that Larry met the woman who would become the center of his world. Three years after their first meeting, he married his beloved Nellie on October 31, 1959, beginning a marriage that would last 66 years. Their bond was marked by deep love, loyalty and a partnership that carried them through every season of life.

Larry went on to work for SCE&G for 10 years, where he was known for his reliability and dedication. Though he valued his time there, he followed his heart back to what brought him the greatest joy: farming. Working the land wasn't just an occupation for him, it was a calling. He poured his days into the fields, finding purpose and peace in the rhythm of farm life.

Larry and Nellie were blessed with two children: Carla F.  (Tommie) Price and Michael D. Bodenhamer. He was a proud grandfather to Jessie D. Bodenhamer of Lexington, Christopher (Sadie) Price of Swansea, and Eric (Tyneequa) Price of Lexington. His joy grew even deeper with the arrival of his great granddaughter, Eleanor K. Price, who brought light and laughter into his later years.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Ruby Harris Bodenhamer and Elbert Eugene Bodenhamer, whose love and guidance shaped the foundation of his life.

The family would like to express a special thank you to NHC of Parkland and Abby Roads Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion and support.

A visitation will be held at Red Bank Baptist Church on March 16, 2026 at 12:00 pm, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm.
