Larry D. McCartha

On June 5, 2026, Larry D. McCartha went to be with his beloved, Carolyn.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church located at 1273 Calks Ferry Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Services are under the direction of Barr-Price Funeral Home & Crematorium, Lexington.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeuli Dawkins (Ronnie) and Penni Norris (Richard), his brother, Jimmy McCartha (Debi) and his sister Virginia Leaphart (Clayton), grandchildren, Jenni Stone (Ryan), Rebekah Norris, Amanda Hicks (Michael), Matthew Porth (Christa), Taylor Porth, Tess Dawkins (Tyler), Nash Dawkins, and five great-grandchildren, Ayla, Weston, Macie, Kayleigh and Brady.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Waits McCartha, parents, Elvin and Alberta McCartha, his son, Larry “Chuck” Porth and great-grandson, Rylan M. Hicks.

A devoted father, husband, Poppy and Great-Poppy, his love for the land reflected his deep roots and the value he placed on hard work and commitment. He was a devoted farmer, both crops and chickens, and retired from a lifetime working maintenance at Allied Chemical.

Along with being dedicated to his work, he was devoted to his family whom he cherished above all else.

A tireless worker, he was considered a lifelong mentor and best friend, who always made time for a tea party or to build a straw fort. We will miss him dearly.

His memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of his many friends and family members.
