Larry Danford, Sr. Obituary

Larry Kent Danford, Sr. peacefully passed away at home on July 16, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, a place he always carried with him.

He was married to Lois McCraney Danford, the love of his life, for 56 years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family, raising four children. His pride in his family was something everyone could see.

He was predeceased by his parents, James Walter Danford, Jr. and Virginia Graham Danford; and his brother, Graham Danford.

He is survived by the family he adored: his wife, Lois Danford; his children, Kent Danford (Carla), Robert Danford (Jenny), Jennifer Lindler (Ashley), and Cathy Morgan (Jacob); his brother, Mike Danford (Linda); his grandchildren, Elijah and Emily Danford, Braelyn and Sawyer Morgan, and Olivia Lindler; his step-grandchildren, Carlie Mills (Drew) and Dalton George (Zoë); and many extended family members and friends who meant so much to him.

If there’s one thing that defined him, it was family. He loved being surrounded by family and friends—whether at holidays, cookouts, or just getting everyone together for no particular reason. Those moments meant everything to him. He also proudly instilled a love for Alabama football in his family, something that became a lasting bond across generations.

He’ll be remembered most for his sense of humor. He was always joking, always teasing, and never passed up a chance to throw in a little sarcasm. If he picked on you, it usually meant he liked you. He had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable, and that’s something we’ll always remember.

We’ll miss his voice, his jokes, and the way he brought everyone together. But we’ll carry those memories with us, and that’s how he’ll always be part of our lives.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Agape Care of South Carolina. We are deeply grateful to hospice case worker Nathaniel, our nurses Jeannette, Kim, and Pam, and to Chaplain Jim for their compassion, comfort, care and guidance for Larry and our family.

In memory of Larry, spend some time with your family, tell a few jokes, and think of him—that’s exactly what he would’ve wanted.

Roll Tide.

A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Chapin Baptist Church 950 Old Lexington Highway Chapin, SC 29036.
