Kevin "Bodie" Tharp

Memorial services for Ollie Kevin “Bodie” Tharp, 64, will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel with Russ Stansell officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to ALS Research.

Mr. Tharp passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025 after a hard fought battle with ALS.  Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Thomas Edward and Jennie Ruth Shumpert Tharp. He was employed with Michelin for over 35 years where he received the nickname of “Critter.” Bodie enjoyed the outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing with his friends, Wild Bill, Bro-C, and Cheetah.

Surviving are his wife Nancy Lynn Tharp, son, Kevin Zane Tharp, daughter, Madison Nicole Tharp, brothers, Danny Tharp (Susie), Martin Tharp (Nancy), Sidney Tharp (Val), sisters, Sheila Sellards, Rita Stansell (Russ), Trina Scarborough (Mark). He was predeceased by a son, William Morgan Tharp.
