Kennieth Erskine Whiteside, Sr

Kennieth Erskine Whiteside was born May 7, 1938. He passed away quietly at home on January 26, 2013 with his wife and family with him. Ken was born and reared in West Columbia, the only son of Erskin & Lue Eleanor Whiteside. Growing up, he was an active member of Brookland United Methodist Church. Ken attended Brookland-Cayce High School where he met his future wife, Lorraine Heise. On June 21, 1958, after he served three year in the U S Army Paratroopers, he married Lorraine, a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in June of this year. After their marriage, Ken became a member of Mt. Hebron UMC. Ken is survived by his wife, three children: Erskine Whiteside II (Tonya Key), DeeDee Brewer, and Bunni (Bert) Corbin, four grandsons: Wayne (Melanie) Brewer, Matthew (Miranda) Brewer, Jim (Jill) Miller, Keenan Sullivan, and two grand-daughters Kayla (Alan Michael) Hagan and Ashley Corbin; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Emily, Hannah, Olivia, Jackson, Noah and Madison, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Georgia Heise, and several nieces, nephews, cousins. Ken and Lorraine enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage and a wonderful life of business and traveling together. Our family will miss Ken very much and appreciate all the love and prayers offered for us by our friends and church family during Ken's illness. We thank the Hospice aides and nurses for their love and support during Ken's illness. We love each of you and cherish your caring, your love, and your compassion during our time of sadness and loss of our beloved Ken. Lorraine Whiteside and Family
