Kathryn “Kathy” (Williams) Wilson—a caring wife, mother, grandmother-to-be, sister, aunt, and friend—left this world on June 8 at age 67. Kathy was born to Lessie and Brice Williams on December 27, 1953 in Monroe, North Carolina, and always had fond memories of growing up in the “Old North State.”
Following high school and college, Kathy fell in love and moved with her husband to South Carolina, where she built a home and a community that she always treasured. She served as a pastor for Living Waters Christian Fellowship where she faithfully ministered to area prisons, and flourished in a career at Comporium Communications. A woman of faith, Kathy loved her family, Jesus, Krispy Kreme donuts, animals of any shape, chocolate pound cake, and playing guitar in both rock bands and worship bands. Her affinity for life was unmatched and will be missed terribly.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, James Herbert Wilson of Lexington, South Carolina, her son, James Herbert Wilson II (Emily) of West Columbia, South Carolina, sister, Rosie (Williams) Mills of Lexington, South Carolina, as well as numerous adored nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Lessie Ballentine Williams of Monroe, North Carolina, father, Brice Nebraska Williams of Monroe, North Carolina, sister, Anna (Williams) Peterson of Greensboro, North Carolina, and brother-in-law, Lew Mills of Lexington, South Carolina.
The family would like to extend a personal note of gratitude to Kathy’s dear friends, Jean Moss and Debbie and Jody Lowman, as well as the staff, doctors, and nurses of Lexington Medical Center, Providence Health, and The Heritage at Lowman for their love and care in recent weeks.
A small, socially distanced celebration of life is scheduled on Sunday, June 13, 2021, with a visitation at 2:00 p.m. followed by a service at 3:30 p.m., at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 235 Pine Grove Road, Leesville, SC 29070. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to Living Waters Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 85492, Lexington, SC 29073 in Kathy’s name. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
