Katherine Glenda Matthews

Katherine Glenda Matthews, 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2025, at Oakleaf Village at Lexington. She was born on May 20, 1939, in Miami, Florida to Edward A. and Margaret M. Davis. She is predeceased by her father and mother; her husband of 43 years, Horace L. “Matt” Matthews; stepson, H. Edward “Matt” Matthews; and brother and sister-in-law, Thomas E. & Joyce J. Davis.

She is survived by her son, Roy A. Hunt (Miriam); daughter, Glenda L. Fesperman; sister, Sharon Davis Fulks; granddaughters, Jennifer L. Johnson (Jeffrey), Jessica McCready (Charlie); great-grandchildren, Bryson and Billie Johnson; expected baby girl, Sallie McCready, due in August; and other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, SC 29072, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Robinhood Road Baptist Church, 5422 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem, NC, with burial at Parklawn Cemetery, Winston- Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robinhood Road Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Oakleaf Village at Lexington who cared for both Kathy and Matt over the past 5 1⁄2 years. We also want to thank the caregivers and staff of All Seasons Hospice and Right at Home for the care and love shown to Kathy and family over the past 6 months.
