Julius A. Judy Jr.
Julius Aaron “Judy Boy” Judy , Jr. passed away on December 5, 2020 in the Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC with the Covid 19 virus. It was the day of his 78th birthday. Because of the virus, there will not be a funeral but later in the late spring or early summer of next year, the family will gather to celebrate his life.
He was the son of Julius Aaron Judy Sr. and Lydia Ann Morris. He was the oldest of 6 children. The first born Allen Ronald passed away as a baby leaving Julius the oldest child with his brother Larry William and sister Jeri Ann. Julius Sr. died December 28th, 1948 when Julius had just turned 6 years old. His mother remarried Kelly Marion Disher Sr. and they had 2 children, Kelly Marion Jr. and Carolyn Sue. Larry passed away with an inoperable brain tumor December 31, 1957 just days after Julius turned 15. It devastated Julius because they were very close and he went out into the world at 16 to live his life. He was a self made man, learning all he could as the years went by. He had learned mechanics and eventually and eventually was a regular and diesel mechanic. He became a crane operator and worked with a crane company in the Charleston Navy Shipyard until 1984. During that time he married Barbra Cooper and raised her very young children Wayne, Wanda and Barbara Ann. As life often does, they parted ways and he married Linda Cathcart and became Dad & Pop to her 3 children Jamie, Tracy and Michael. He left this earth being very loved by all 6 children.
Julius and sister Jeri loved to dance as teenagers and would win dance contests together. He also speed and raced cars that he, uncles and step father would put together. The love of racing and cars was with him all of his life. He had just purchased a T bucket and a 1966 Ford that he intended to restore. It made him happy to be tinkering in his shop. He was very close to his cousin Willie Judy and we could just imagine the two of them riding down the road in an old hot rod. He worked hard all the life because he thought that was he was supposed to do to have anything. It was one of the things that made him the man he was.
Julius had a special bond with his sister Jeri’s daughter Shannon and her two children Brandon and Bailey proud to see what good young people they had grown up to be. He loved his family but was very stern if they stepped out of line. As a grown man, he was a man’s man and tough but he really had a very tender heart. He was a very happy man when he was able to walk his first granddaughter Shaz down the aisle in October of 2019 and excited that his son Wayne was married this October. He was “PaPa” for 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. No one thought we would lose him so soon.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., June 19, 2021 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel.
