Joyce Nates Chavis

Mrs. Joyce Nates Chavis, 83, of Lexington crossed over to her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Joyce was born on February 22, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Lonnie and Pearl Sharpe Nates. She was a devoted Christian and loved serving her church. Joyce loved her family without wavier.  

She is survived by her by her children, Laura Epley (Max), Lynn Bundrick, and CE Chavis (Marti); grandchildren, Jonathan, Tracey (Heath), Jacalynn, Courtney, Ellie, Dakota, Harrison, and Leyla; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Landon, Jac, Kayson, and Collin. Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Clyde Chavis; and a son-in-law, David Bundrick.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Life Springs Church with the Rev. Derrick Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Springs Church, 5630 Platt Springs Road, Lexington SC 29073. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Chavis family with arrangements.

She will be greatly missed by all. Joyce has ran a good race and fought a good fight. Rejoice with us as she receives her reward.
