The family of Josephine Rebecca Mock Cromer, 88, born in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of the late Fredrick Joseph Mock Sr. and Leona Hunnicutt Mock, announces her peaceful passing on December 21, 2025 after spending time with loved ones.
'Becky' dedicated her life to God, family, and friends. She believed in the power of prayers and enjoyed singing songs of praise. She exhibited a joyous sense of humor, a listening ear to those in need and sought to help where she could. She was never afraid to speak her mind, and showed bravery with the challenges in her life. She is deeply missed and much loved.
She is survived by her children, Deborah H. Hedgepath (Larry) of NC, Sheryl Heape (Hampton) of SC, and Vernon W. Mahaffey (Susan Dellinger) of SC; one brother, Andy Mock of Ga.; 6 grandchildren, Ben Hightower (Chiara) of NSW, Leah Stanley (Charlie) of SC, Jessica Hightower of Fla., Rebecca Rodgers of SC, Dusty Blackwell of SC, Billy Blackwell of MI; 9 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is predeceased by her youngest son, Ronnie Mahaffey; brothers, Tony, Jerry, and Fred Mock (Faye); and one sister, Delores Eaton (Joe).
A huge family circle of endearment which all played an important role in her life.
A visitation will be held from 12pm (Noon) and 1:30 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. A Celebration of Life graveside will be held 2pm following the visitation at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may make memorials in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, or to the Boys Farm in Newberry, SC where she made contributions for many years.
