Joseph Lee Butler, Jr.

Mr. Joseph Lee Butler, Jr. 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1954 in Batesburg, South Carolina to the late Joseph Lee Butler, Sr. and Rosa Lee Weaver. Joseph retired from the construction industry, where he was a painter. During his career he became a traveling painter; traveling all over the country to his different jobs sites. Joseph painted anything from residential houses to skyscrapers in big cities.

“Dickie” as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He loved to crack a joke with anyone. Dickie was also known for his “million dollar” smile. Most of all he enjoyed listening to the Parade of Quartets on Sunday mornings.  

Surviving are his brothers, Larry Butler, and George Butler; sisters, Cornelia Briggs (Herman); Rosa Johnson, Cleavie Morris (Ivy), Alethea E. Thompson (Sandy E.), and Marie E. Powell; a special niece, Juanita Seawright (Keith) and a host of loving family and friends.

Services will be announced at a later date. Burial will be held at Olive Branch Cemetery.

Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outery nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
