Joseph Edward Raymond, Jr. Obituary

Joseph Edward Raymond Junior, known to most as Joe, was born March 22, 1972 in Stoughton, MA. He took his final journey on July 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and desire to see the world. A career in IT that carried over into daily life, Joe was the family computer guy. He was also a talented guitarist, playing all genres but he especially enjoyed heavy metal/hard rock, idolizing Ozzy and Eddie Van Halen. He enjoyed going to live concerts and credited his older siblings with allowing their little brother to tag along to concerts to grow his love of music.

Residing in Lexington, South Carolina, Joe created a warm, welcoming home with his beloved wife, Jennifer. Their bond was based on a foundation of friendship and laughter above all else. They shared a love of travel, and Joe took her around the globe, celebrating anniversaries in Hawaii and Vienna among other vacations. Their own Polly and Reuben love story was born from his love of movies, which quickly became an integral part of their relationship. Joe was also a die hard sports fan, loving all teams Boston. After moving to Michigan, he added the Red Wings, Lions and Tigers to his list of favorite teams. He grew up playing hockey, winning many accolades throughout the state of Massachusetts and beyond. This love of hockey continued into adulthood, where he assisted with the high school program in Columbia, which is where he met his soulmate.

Joe was a cherished son to Joseph Sr and Evelyn (Shepard), who preceded him in death. His love for them evident in his actions and values he held dear. Besides his loving spouse, Jennifer, he is survived by daughter Audrey Raymond (Luke Eidson) of Dayton OH, son Nicholas Raymond (Kalysta Young) of Tucson AZ, daughter Madison Marriott of Hilton Head Island SC, son Tyler Marriott of West Columbia SC, and son Kodie Marriott of Lexington SC. He is also survived by grandson Draeden Young; siblings Donna McLeod (Dennis) of Lexington SC, Michelle Smith of Mardella Springs MD, Edmund DeCosta (Stacy) of Middleboro MA, and Susan King of Nashua NH; his mother in law, Nancy Capannola, and sisters-in-law Amy Taylor and Heather Bateman. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews, and many cherished cousins.

As we bid farewell to Joe, we celebrate his life, one lived with purpose, laughter and an abundance of love. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 4:00pm at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, located at 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, South Carolina, 29072. Visitation will be immediately beforehand, starting at 3:00pm at the same venue. We request in honor of Joe’s love of sports and music, you
please consider wearing sports jerseys or music Tshirts to his celebration, as formalities were never his thing. As we remember Joe, we are reminded of the words of Ozzy Osbourne: “my life was a journey of extremes: from chaos to love, from darkness to light, I’m no saint, but I’ve always been real. I did what I wanted…I regret nothing, because every step made me who I am”. Joe’s life was indeed a journey of extremes, one that we were privileged to share with him.

Everyone who was touched by Joe’s spirit is encouraged to share their memories, stories and photos on the memorial page. As we continue to celebrate his life, let us keep his legacy alive in our hearts and minds. In lieu of flowers, Joe and Jenn request you take an adventure, see a new place, and experience the world outside your neighborhood. It makes life even more beautiful.
