Joseph William Wright, known to all as Joe, was born on January 16, 1938, in Columbia. A longtime resident of Irmo, he passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 88.
Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. He shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joyce Wright, and their partnership was the foundation of a family bound by love, faith, and devotion.
A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Joe’s life reflected his deep love for the Lord. His faith guided him through life’s joys and challenges, and he found great joy in sharing God’s love with his family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Wright; his daughter, Dianne Bryant; sister, Doris Allen; brothers, Carl Wright and John Wright; his grandchildren, Adam Bryant (Jennifer Bryant), Jessica Ackerman (Mendel Ackerman), and Christina Brown (Michael Brown); and his great-grandchildren, Maggie Wright, Carly Bryant, Raylyn Ackerman, Noah Ackerman, Adam Bryant Jr., and Lilly Brown.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce; his parents, Charles and Murvelle Wright; his brothers, Charles and Paul Wright; his sisters, Jackie Lucas, Norma Worley, and Francis Wright; his son-in-law, Lynn Bryant; and his daughter-in-law, Jane Wright. His life was a testament to faith, family, and hard work, leaving a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at White Rock Baptist Church, 1409 Peace Haven Rd., Chapin, SC 29036, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Woodridge Memorial Park & Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to White Rock Baptist Church. Barr-Price Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
