Funeral service for Johnny Marvin Hare, 52, will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Zion Hopewell Church, Gilbert SC with Bishop Theotis White officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel.
Johnny entered into God’s eternal rest and peace on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Mr. Hare was born February 19, 1971, and was a son of Sallie Mae Cannon Hare and the late Johnnie Hare Sr. Being an only child, he grew up with Ruth Ann, Pastor Sylvia Smith, Mary Alice Jetta, Pam, Jean, Ryan Richardson, Edward, and his Blood Brother, Jabbar Simpkins; In which Johnny considered them all as his “siblings”. He graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1990 where he went to pursue football at Hampton University. Johnny was known for his calm, humble spirit in which he was able to touch others. He also worked with Amick Farms in the shipping department.
Johnny leaves behind his mother, Sallie Hare; wife, Juanita Hare; children, Jonnell, Rykiah, and Jamison Hare; step-sons, Sidney and Antwon; aunts, Margaret Tolen, Dora Bennett, Elvira Cannon, Josephine Cannon, Molly Cannon, and Bessie Cannon; uncle, James Cannon; and a host of loving family, friends, and cousins.
Johnny is joined again with his father, Johnnie Hare Sr., grandmother, Hattie Sims, and an uncle, Moses Hare.
