Joe B. Bailey, Jr.

Lexington – Joe B. Bailey, Jr., 83, passed away April 24, 2021. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.

I would like to introduce you to Joe Bailey. For those of you not fortunate to know him, let me tell you something about this man. First of all, Joe was a man of his word and true and loyal to his friends and business acquaintances. He had a big, generous and loving heart. Tender and humble, Joe was and will always be a True Southern Gentleman.

Joe was raised by his parents, Joe Bailey, Sr, and Alice Jackson Bailey in Macon, Georgia along with his brother, Hoyt Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Davis Bailey of the home; children, Teresa Bailey of Nashville, TN, Mike (Yvette) Bailey of Spartanburg, SC, Laura (Matthew) Dillinger, and Valerie (Steve) Altman of Lexington, SC. Joe is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 

Joe was an active member of the National Guard which gave him great pride. He retired from Shakespeare where he was a Mechanical Engineer. After retirement, he took up gardening which he loved and was pretty good at. He was a true outdoorsman, and loved hunting and fishing. He spent a lot of time at his hunting camp with good friends up until this past year.

Joe graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
