Jo Ann Caldwell

Gilbert - Ms. Jo Ann Oswald Caldwell, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 14, 2023. She was born in Williston, SC and was the daughter of the late Ernest M. Givens & Josephine S. Martin.

She retired from Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission as Senior Citizen Director. She loved to Clog with her “Hop Along” friends and plan trips, activities, and projects with the South Congaree Senior Center. Many people instantly connected with her friendly loving spirit. She loved her grandchildren and great-grands so much as well as with her beloved dog, Layla.

Jo Ann is survived by her son, Marvin ‘Jenkie’ Oswald (Cindy) and grandchildren, Julie Oswald Jeffcoat, Derek J. Oswald (Ashley) and great-grandchildren, Noah J. Oswald, Mable J. Jeffcoat & Kennedy E. Oswald, all of Lexington, SC; sisters, Sylvia Kizer of Charleston, SC and Patsy Coleman of Daytona Beach, FL.

She was married to Lowell J. ‘Koon’ Oswald for 42 years until his death in 1994. Later she remarried M.D. Caldwell, to whom she was married for 14 years, until his death in 2012. She was also predeceased by her brother, Rev. James P. Rutland.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Laurel Baptist Church Foreign Missions, 2250 Pine Street, West Columbia, SC 29170.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Graveside Services will follow at 3:00 pm at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd., Lexington, SC.
