Jimmy Ray Sharpe, 71, of Gaston, South Carolina, passed away on January 12, 2026, and entered his heavenly home in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. After a long illness, Jimmy is now breathing freely, walking on his own and singing praises. He was the son of Barbara Jean Watts (Sharpe) and the late Wilbur Harley Watts.
Jimmy was a quiet and hardworking man who freely gave his time in service. As a youth and an adult, he helped immediate and extended family, friends and neighbors with countless projects. Jimmy counted as one of his greatest contributions the time he devoted to helping construct a new facility for his home church, Harmony Baptist Church. When not serving others, Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his immediate family, especially playing sports and fishing with family members. He was also gifted in visual art. In particular, he enjoyed sketching and painting animals for his own pleasure. Jimmy enjoyed being outdoors and walking with his beagle companion, Mac. Jimmy was a loyal employee and began his career after graduating from Swansea High School. He worked for Horseman Doll, Inc. in Cayce, South Carolina, and later as a fabricator with ImagePoint and AGI in Columbia, South Carolina.
After retiring, Jimmy helped his parents care for their home and farm. He continued his faithful service to his mother and cared for her until his illness.
Jimmy is survived by his mother; his brother, Randy Watts (Sebrenia); his sister, Kay Joseph; his nieces, Jessica Joseph, Rachel Joseph, Emily Luther (Jason); and his great-nephews, James, Rhett, and Hoke Luther. He is also survived by many loving cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his father; his grandparents, W. A. and Callie Sharpe and Harley and Susie Watts; and his brother-in-law, Ed Joseph.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Friday, January 16, 2026, at Harmony Baptist Church, 1959 Woodtrail Drive, Gaston, South Carolina. Those wishing to visit with the family may do so in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
