Services for Jewell Scott Baird, 92, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Concord Baptist Church with Pastor Elton Dunbar, Pastor Robert Culbertson and Pastor Mark Leonard officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30pm on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel.

Jewell Scott Baird passed away Wednesday April 30, 2025. Born in Leefield, Georgia, she was the youngest child of the late Arthur Joseph Scott and Ada Hagan Scott. Jewell was a well-loved hair dresser for over 58 years and enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her church family for over 50 years at Concord Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and beloved grandmother who never missed an opportunity to play basketball outside with her grandchildren, go to a South Carolina football game with family, get a Frappuccino with her daughter at Starbucks, or get friends together for a game of cards that just might go on all night.

Jewell had more energy and zest for life than most people half her age - waterskiing at 87 years old (she wanted to “set the record”) and continuing to play the piano at church and worked as a hairdresser right up until the week of her passing. She was absolutely confident in her faith in Jesus, living every moment to fullest while on Earth and having no fear in death.

She is survived by her sons, Sammie Baird  (Suzanne) and Barry Baird (Melissa); daughter Karla Davis (Hal); grandchildren: Haley von Dohlen (Michael), Reid Baird (Bailey), Anna Davis (Paul), Shellie Davis, Mason Baird, and Evan Baird; and great-grandchildren Gracie Davis and Reese von Dohlen. She is also survived by a sister-in-law plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and various “adopted” family members very dear to her heart.

Mrs. Jewell was predeceased by her husband Sammie “Fate” Lafayette Baird, her parents, brother (Carl Scott), sisters (Thelma, Myrtle, and Willie Mae), and numerous nephews and nieces.
