Jennifer “Jiffy” Henkel Stogner was born on June 29, 1943, in San Luis Obispo, California where her father Richard Henkel was serving in the United States Army Air Forces. After his death in a plane crash during World War II, her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Nichols Henkel, returned to the Albany, New York area where she had grown up. When her parents moved to South Carolina, she and Jiffy joined them.
Betty met and married Guignard R. DuBose. Jiffy was raised on the family’s farm in Sumter County, SC. Jiffy moved to Northern Virginia where she worked on Capitol Hill and later for a military contractor. There she met Rhett Stogner who although raised in Virginia, had deep roots in Darlington County, SC. They lived in Virginia until retirement brought them back to South Carolina. Jiffy and Rhett were married for 59 years.
Jiffy died at the Presbyterian Community in Lexington, SC, on May 21, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Harriet DuBose; and her children, Wayne Guignard DuBose and Karen Elaine Stogner. She is survived by her husband Rhett; her sister, Gale DuBose (Ted Polansky); grandchildren, John DuBose, Jason DuBose and Lara DuBose DeRose; and six great-grandchildren.
