Jeffery Glenn Sandel, 72, passed away on April 27, 2026. Born in Columbia, SC, he spent his life nurturing his creative spirit, keen intelligence, and remarkable talent.
Jeff was an impressive figure in the nuclear power industry, where he worked as a technician before his retirement. His smart and innovative approach to his work was appreciated by all who worked with him. Beyond his career, Jeff was a man of many talents and interests. His love for the mysteries of the universe led him to be an active member of the Association of Lunar Planetary Observation. His contributions in the field of astronomy, particularly his published papers on the study of sun spots, were reflective of his intellectual curiosity. He pursued his hobbies with the same passion and creativity, immersing himself in music, coin and stamp collecting, and the study of unexplained phenomena. His diverse interests and his ability to engage deeply with each of them demonstrated his dynamic personality.
Jeff is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Louann Sandel, his nieces, Kimberly Bessinger (Paul) and Glynna Fogle, and his nephew, Ian Reeve. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sandel; his mother, Christine Sandel; and his brother, Murray Sandel. His family will remember him as a source of inspiration and a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and talent.
Services will be private and are under the direction of Barr-Price Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lexington Chapel.
