Jean Marie Veit

Jean Marie Veit, 88, passed away on January 21, 2021, at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held 12:00 (noon), Tuesday January 26, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce, SC with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Woodridge Memorial Park.

Jean was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Fred and Mildred Young on July 6, 1932. She graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1950. Jean married Richard M. Veit on August 22, 1953, and they shared 67 blessed years together. They lived in Erie until 1976, then moved to Cayce, SC. Jean continued to work at Sears until she retired. After retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, and completing jigsaw puzzles; but her greatest joy was  volunteering at Lexington Medical Center Gift Shop where she gave 1500+ hours of her time before illness forced her to stop. Jean was a devoted Christian and a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce.

Jean is survived by her husband, Dick; her daughter, Lucinda Fox; and her son, Gary Veit. She also leaves three grandchildren, Sara Gray, James Fox, and Jocelyn Veit; and five great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her grandson, Derek Veit.
