Jamie Larry Hawes, 45, of Leesville passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 22, 1981 in Lexington County, South Carolina to Wilbur Hawes and the late Priscilla Hartley Hawes. Jamie worked cutting trees around power lines and roads for over 20 years. He was an avid hard worker who loved to hunt, crappie fish, and spend time with his family. Jamie’s brightest light and joy was his daughter Bella Virginia Hawes.
Surviving are his wife, Amanda Matthews Hawes; daughter, Bella Virginia Hawes; his father and stepmother, Wilbur and Blanche; brothers, Kevin and Ray; his uncle Bill and aunt Angelia; his aunt Ruthie and uncle Bill; his aunt Mary and uncle Johnny; and aunt Kathy.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Roger Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692 Dallas, Texas 75284. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Hawes family with arrangements.
