James V. Covington, Jr.

James V. (Whitey) Covington, Jr. was born on January 4, 1945 and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 17, 2025. He was the son of the late James V. Covington and Lola Fore Covington. James served in the Army and held the rank of Sergeant E-5. He was employed with United Insurance and retired after 32 years. He was a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church for 39 years where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He also spoke once a month at Lakewood Ministries, a mission of Holland Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pamela L. Covington; sister, Vickie Hyatt of Dillon; brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Judith Weeks of Canton, GA; six nieces and nephews; fifteen great nieces and nephews; two great great nephews; and three great great nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Luke and wife Annelle Covington, brother Rick and wife Helen Covington; nephew, Clay Weeks; and brother-in-law, Glenn Hyatt.

Services will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Holland Avenue Baptist Church 801 12th St. Cayce, SC at 2:30pm with visitation at 1:45pm to 2:20pm, all at the church. The service will be livestreamed from the Holland Avenue Baptist Church website.
