James O. “Jimmy” Mills, III, 80, of Pomaria, SC, died Saturday, October 17, 2020. Jimmy was the only child of James “Osbon” Mills, Jr. and Carrie Lee Mills.
Jimmy had a strong love of the Lord and his family and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington. He served in the US Naval Service and retired from the United States Postal Service with over 35 years of service. He was an active member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge, #152 and the Sportsters unit of the Jamil Temple Shriners. Jimmy was Baseball Commissioner for Pineview Baseball in the 1970’s and cherished sharing his love of the game with many youth.
Jimmy had a profound love of coffee and it had to be “smooooth”. To this day, his grandchildren must have their coffee prepared the same way. One of his favorite sandwiches was pimento cheese. Fortunately, he shared his secret recipe so that it can be enjoyed by many who loved them. Jimmy loved hotdogs from the Varsity, fresh lobster from wherever he could get it, fallen pound cake, and looked forward to Christmas Breakfast with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mills; his son, Tommy (Kelli) Mills; his grandchildren, Jordan (Richard) Thompson, Dylan (Amanda) Mills; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aiden and Nolan Thompson; sister-in-law, Annett Price; brothers-in-law, Wynne (Mary) Price, Joel (Cindy) Price, Art Boland; aunt, Alice Hendrix; step-daughter, Lisa (Bill) Lynch; step-granddaughter, Chelsea Lynch; step-great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kailyn; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmy was pre-deceased by his wife, Barbara Price Mills; his mother and father, Osbon J. Mills, Jr. and Carrie Lee Mills; and brother-in-law, Jerry Price.
