James "Jimmy" Talbert Moultrie

James (Jimmy) Moultrie, 86, of Lexington, SC went to be with his Heavenly Father February 19, 2026 after an extended illness.  He is survived by Harriette Parker Moultrie his wife of 59 years; his daughters, Martha Moultrie Gerrick of Lake Wylie, SC, and Meg Moultrie Leonards (Robert) of Apex, NC; and five grandchildren.  His granddaughter, Quincy Lell, has resided with him while attending the University of South Carolina.

Jimmy finished North Augusta High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball.  After graduating from USC he taught school and coached high school sports for thirty years including football, basketball, golf and track.  He taught and coached at Eau Claire High School (Columbia, SC), Orangeburg High School (Orangeburg, SC) Lower Richland High School (Columbia, SC), and Airport High School in West Columbia, SC where he spent most of his career before retiring in 1995.  

He was an avid and excellent golfer - a bad day for him was an 80!  He was known as "Coach" at Lexington Country Club where he was a longtime member. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed all Gamecock sports but especially football and women's basketball.  He also loved watching golf and always watched the Atlanta Braves.  

A member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church he most recently worshipped at Faith United Methodist in Lexington.  Services are scheduled at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel on Sunday, February 22nd with visitation at 2:00 followed by services at 3:00 - the Reverend Milford Oswald officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church Lexington, SC.
