Funeral service for James Earl Hyman, 87, will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Batesburg with the Rev. Henry Stamper officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Batesburg Parking Lot Fund, 436 West Church Street, Batesburg, SC 29006. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. James passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024. Born in Hyman, SC, he was a son of the late Ossie Monroe and Lula Brown Hyman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg where he was a former deacon and Sunday school director. Mr. Hyman was a retired manager with Union Switch and Signal with over 39 years of service, and a U.S. Air force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Hyman; sons, Tim Hyman (Julie) and Bruce Hyman (Gail); sisters-in-law, Amelia Hyman and Merrie Hyman; grandchild, Khloe Hyman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jimmie Monroe Hyman; and sisters, Lois Cox, Margaret Parham, and Genevia Gandy.
