James Eric Tolleson, 68, passed away on July 20, 2026, after a brief illness. Jimmy was born on May 13, 1958, in Spartanburg, SC to the late Ray and Mary Lou Tolleson.
He is survived by his wife Carrie, his “Bunny”; stepsons, Chris (Lucille) and Ryan (Rebecca) Glenn; “Papa Jimmy” to grandchildren, Blake, Lily, and Mary Glenn; his favorite mother-in-law, Joan Rake; sister, Cynthia Bowden (Durwood); brother, Tony Tolleson (Lynn); nieces and nephews, Christy Quinn, Cody Rake, Christy Childers, Patrick (Sarah) Grubbs, Stuart (Stacey) Bowden, and Beth (Eric) Werhan.
Jimmy began his career in transportation as a teen, starting as a weighmaster at Gaston Copper. He was eventually promoted to Traffic Manager and spent 15 years with the company. He served on the board of Transport Clearings East, Inc. In 2000 he founded Southlake Transport in Lexington and successfully grew the company until his retirement.
Jimmy loved fishing, fast cars, a cold beer with friends, and he never met a casino he didn’t like. He was also very happy just spending time at home with his cats, Fudgie and Bucky.
Always a kind and generous man, Jimmy’s greatest gift was being an organ donor. Through his donation he was able to give the gift of life to several individuals in need.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pawmetto Lifeline animal adoption center in Columbia, SC.
