James Ray Obituary

Private graveside services for James Bascom Ray, 71, will be conducted at Halltown Cemetery. Barr-Price Funeral Home, Historic B-L Chapel is assisting the family.

Mr. Ray died Monday June 29, 2020. Born in Haw River, NC he was a son of the late James and Pauline Baker Ray, was a retired truck driver and was a US Marine Vietnam Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Oswald Ray, son, Michael Ray, daughter, Michelle Ray Clayton (Brad), step children, Glenn New (Judy), Theodore Godfrey (Jami), Anita Poston, (Clift), brother, David Ray (Betty Jean), sisters, Toni Hicks (Jerry), Patricia Grant, grandchildren, Kip and Thomas Gunter, Lennon and Carl New, Allen Caughman, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Gail Hall, nephew, Jerry Hall.

He was predeceased by a step daughter, Terry N. Gunter, brother, Jerry Ray, brother-in-law, James Grant.
