James Kyzer, Sr. Obituary

James Edgar Kyzer, Sr., 77, fondly known as daddy, pawpaw, Uncle James, “The Legend,” Daddy K or Pops passed away on March 28, 2026. He was born on December 10, 1948 in Columbia, SC and resided in West Columbia, SC.

James dedicated his career as a welder at W. C. Manufacturing aka Wesco Trailers for 44 years. He retired in September 2010. He was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting his entire life and found his peace in the woods and on the water. James loved nothing more than sharing his passion with his family and friends and making special memories with his grandchildren. He married the love of his life “Susie” in 1967, and together they built a blessed life. His love for his family and the outdoors will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, James E. “Jamey” Kyzer, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Devin, Erin, Kaden, and Allie Kyzer; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews who love him dearly.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Ava Michele Kyzer; mother, Eva Lou Price Alexander (Wade); and father, Horace Kyzer (Betty).

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. The family invites friends to attend lunch in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church 310 Gator Road, Gaston, SC 29053 or American Cancer Society, Inc. P O Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family acknowledges with sincere appreciation the comforting messages, floral tributes, and other expressions of kindness during this time of bereavement.
