James Preston Byars

James Preston Byars, 63, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019. Born November 19, 1955 in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late James Ray Byars and Patricia JoAnn Logan.

Mr. Byars was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching football with his family. He worked in industrial sales and management all his life. He was also a RA Leader at Dixiana Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn D. Byars; son, Chris Byars; daughter, Deborah A. Wilson (John “Winky”); granddaughter, Emily Wilson; great-granddaughter Mattilyn; brother, Roy Graham; and sisters Lynn Inman, Betty Chambers, Vern Poston and Jennifer Rose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, John David Wilson; brother, David Harris; and stepfather, Frank Harris.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Dixiana Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
